Vanessa Honn, Ph.D.

With over 20 years of experience, I am deeply passionate about supporting clients as they enhance their lives. My approach to psychotherapy is creative, compassionate, and open to new possibilities. I believe that even during the darkest moments, profound change and personal growth are possible as we learn to embrace the unknown with courage and resilience.

Together, we may actively explore areas for growth, increase self-awareness, build on your strengths, and develop practical solutions. I view psychotherapy as a flexible, collaborative process, guided by your input and tailored to your unique needs. I am open, accepting, emotionally expressive, candid, and I appreciate humor.

I specialize in helping adults with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. I find great fulfillment in helping individuals navigate complex relationships, enhance self-understanding, and work through life transitions. My therapeutic approach draws from various methods, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness techniques.

I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Ohio State University and completed postdoctoral training at the VA Boston Healthcare System and Boston University School of Medicine. I have worked as a clinical psychologist in Washington since 2004.

Services are provided primarily at my office in Old Town, Tacoma. Virtual appointments are available on an as-needed basis.

My practice is inclusive and affirming, welcoming individuals from all backgrounds.
